A Note from Our Founder
Our Launch, the Wins, the Hard Parts, and Everything We’ve Learned
There was a point where I genuinely asked myself: will Fusilli ever launch?
After three long years of building, testing, waiting, revising, and starting over, Fusilli sometimes felt less like a brand and more like a slow-cooked idea I wasn’t sure would ever be ready to serve.
We officially launched on 11/11, and these past few months have been filled with so much excitement, gratitude, and momentum… and also a lot of learning curves, late nights, second-guessing, and figuring-it-out-as-we-go moments. I wanted to start here, with you all, by sharing a bit of both.
The Wins (Because There Were Many)
Seeing Fusilli come to life and resonate with so many curlies has truly been surreal. Watching people try the Fusilli Method for the first time and hearing that curls feel lighter, softer, and easier, that alone makes every step worth it.
People have written to say,
“You gave me the confidence to wear my hair natural for the first time in years!”
Others have told me they stopped planning their lives around blowouts. That they went to dinner curly. That they went in the ocean on vacation. That they let their hair air-dry for the first time in years, and it felt liberating.
That is why I do this!
The Hard Parts (Because There Were Those Too)
What people don’t always see are the moments in between: the waiting, the delays, the things that didn’t go according to plan. The samples that weren’t right. The emails that went unanswered. The quiet panic of wondering if this would ever actually exist outside of my Notes app and my dreams.
There were days I questioned everything. Nights I wondered if I was being naïve, or too emotional, or too attached to an idea that only made sense to me. Building something from scratch means carrying it alone for a long time before anyone else can see it.
But every time I wore my hair natural out in the world, I’d get stopped.
“I have curly hair too, I just don’t know what to do with it.”
“Your curls are beautiful. Mine are always frizzy, I could never wear them out.”
“I’m basically a glorified poof.”
I heard it everywhere. On the street. In coffee lines. In bathrooms. What struck me most was how defeated people sounded, like good curls were something you were either born with or not.
That’s when it clicked. This wasn’t about luck. It was about unlearning the idea that curl care has to be meticulous and time-consuming. I knew there was an overwhelming need for curl care that felt simple, intuitive, and easy enough for real life.
Where We’re Headed
We’re still so early. Fusilli is growing, evolving, and finding its rhythm, just like curls do. There’s more coming, more learning ahead, and more refining. But if this is the beginning, I already know it’s worth it.
Thank you for being here. For cheering us on. For trusting me with something as personal as your hair. This community is the most unexpected and meaningful part of it all, and I don’t take that lightly.
Here’s to more ocean swims, more air-dry days, and more showing up exactly as we are!
Xx,
Haley
